Colt Technology Services is celebrating an interconnection milestone, passing more than 200 interconnections at public cloud on-ramp locations around the world.
The company states it now covers the ‘majority' of major public cloud points of presence in Asia and Europe, helping the company to position itself as a big player in cloud across the two regions.
Colt's cloud onramps connect to services including Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, IBM Cloud, Microsoft Azure, and Oracle Cloud. The company's most recent interconnect provided access to Oracle Cloud in Wales.
Colt CEO Keri Gilder says, “Many years ago, at the start of the rise of cloud, Colt made its first interconnect with AWS Cloud. Today, with over 200 public cloud on-ramps – more than most providers in Europe and Asia – we've become a global cloud incumbent for connectivity.
“At Colt, we know there is a direct correlation between the success of cloud migration projects and connectivity. We're committed to serving enterprise cloud requirements with our flexible, high bandwidth and low latency network. This landmark is an example of that and our determination to become the network platform underpinning enterprise cloud transitions.
The company says that customers will have access to a diverse range of PoP connectivity options, and resilient connectivity in a country or cloud region.
Colt also points to the adoption of cloud migration, which is defining enterprise IT strategies - particularly following COVID-19.
In May, Colt conducted research on 400 senior IT decision makers about their upcoming cloud projects. it found that 33% of respondents are setting aside between SG$470,000-$940,000 to fund their next cloud move.
The research found that 56% of respondents use application programming interface (API) technology for achieving cloud goals. Edge compute (47%), AI (43%), on-demand networking (40%), uCPE (34%) and SD-WAN (32%) were also widely used.
The research also found that more than half (52%) of respondents believe ‘technology evolution' is a key enabler of their business plans.

To ensure cloud migrations happen smoothly, enterprises need to focus on flexible, high bandwidth, low latency connectivity,” comments Gilder.
