CommVault beats Q3 estimates

With big data garnering so much attention at the moment, its no wonder CommVault, which focuses on data protection, archiving and management with its Simpana suite, beat estimates for sales and profits for its Q3 2013 figures.

Now the company has debuted the latest version of Simpana data protection, archiving and management suite, with the company keen to talk the product up to kiwi resellers.

CommVault formally launched the long awaited Simpana 10 overnight in New York.

The copany claims Simpana 10's 300+ new features combine to reduce risk, slash costs by up to half, reduce administrative overhead by up to 80% and lower aggregate support costs by up to 35%.

Brett Chase, CommVault regional director for APJ, says the New Zealand market's heavier reliance on managed services, outsourcing and hosted services means the new offering's multi-tenancy protection, self-service operations, chargeback and custom branding, will provide 'reassurance' to local service provider and help drive their bottom line.

“For traditional resellers, it is a continuisation of the modernisation to keep this at the forefront.”

Chase says the company has focused on three key over-arching areas for improvements: protect, manage and access.

He claims backup and archiving is up to two times as fast; up to 50% less time can be spent managing operations and on the access front there can be up to 50% increase productivity.

CommVault says new data protection and archive innovations simplify administration, reduce infrastructure and accelerate virtualisation and cloud adoption.

Among the changes are enhanced IntelliSnap, providing instant, automated recovery of applications and virtual servers, includign new support for Windows Server 2012 with Hyer-V, and enhancements to IBM DB2, Lotus Notes, SAP and Oracle integration.

Simpana OnePass with Exchange for email retention helps converge backup, archiving and reporting into a single process.

The company will be hitting the road in New Zealand in late March or early April with a Simpana 10 roadshow, followed by partner enablement training, including boot camp sessions.

“There are a lot of changes that will be new to even our oldest and dearest partners, so we will be looking at the nuts and bolts of installation, how to use it to solve business problems and so on,” Chase says.
