FYI, this story is more than a year old

Getac has unveiled its latest rugged tablet, designed with workers in the automotive, defence, logistics, utilities, transport, and other sectors in mind.

The F110 tablet is built to handle difficult field conditions, including extreme cold and heat, as well as dusty and wet environments.

Operating between -29°C to +63°C, the tablet also has an IP66 rating that means it offers full protection against dust ingress and water. The device is also drop-resistant to up to 1.8 metres, an improvement of 60cm from the previous generation of tablet.

Under the hood, the F110 is built with a quad-core 11th generation Intel Core i5 or i7 processor, Intel Iris Xe graphics, and connectivity such as WLAN Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and WWAN 4G LTE/GPS. The tablet also features an integrated Thunderbolt 4 port that delivers a 40 Gb/s connection.

All of this is wrapped in the rugged shell and an 11.6-inch LumiBond 2.0 touchscreen with up to 1000 nits of brightness and a contrast ratio that ensures the screen is readable in all conditions.

The F110 is also built with a dual hot-swappable battery system which means users can change batteries without powering down the device. GETAC has also changed the location of the expansion and SIM slots to the side of the tablet (these were previously on the rear of the tablet). A camera shutter protects privacy and the device comes with a user-removable SSD.

Furthermore, accessories include a detachable 88-key backlit keyboard, and an integrated touchpad so the tablet feels more like a laptop during data-intensive tasks. Other accessories include a shoulder strap, rotating hand strap and kickstand, a hard handle, and secure office/vehicle docks.

Getac president of rugged and video solutions business group, Rick Hwang comments, “The popularity of rugged tablets has grown exponentially in recent years, thanks to their winning combination of functionality, versatility and ease of use.

“With the launch of the next-generation F110, we have completed a full refresh of our flagship tablet ranges since the second half of 2020, consisting of the 10” UX10, the 11” F110 and the 12” K120. As a result, customers across all vertical markets now have a comprehensive choice of industry-leading rugged solutions to suit their individual needs.

The next-generation F110 is part of Getac Select, which combines pre-configured rugged devices, software, accessories, and professional services into complete solutions that streamline operational efficiency across different verticals and workplace scenarios. Some examples include:
