FYI, this story is more than a year old

Google Cloud has announced the appointment of Paul Dearlove to the newly established role of Head of Google Cloud in New Zealand. The move signals the company’s ongoing investment in New Zealand to meet the growing local demand for its cloud services and closely follows the recent announcement of its first-ever New Zealand cloud region.

Paul will be based in Auckland, leading the New Zealand go-to-market cloud strategy and strengthening relationships with local customers and partners. The new local cloud region will offer local customers high-performance, low-latency services and products.

"We’re delighted to have Paul leading our New Zealand Cloud business as we enter the next phase of growth and investment in Aotearoa," says Alister Dias, Vice President of Google Cloud Australia and New Zealand.

"Paul's proven experience and deep knowledge will be extremely valuable as we continue to bring the best of Google Cloud technology, including the first ever New Zealand cloud region, to our growing base of Kiwi customers and partners."

Paul has spent the last two years as the Head of SAP across Australia and New Zealand at Google Cloud. Before that, he led the ANZ digital core cloud division for SAP.

"We’re doubling down on our investment in New Zealand and backing our mission to help Kiwis and their businesses succeed in a digital economy," says Dearlove after being appointed Head of Google Cloud New Zealand.

"I'm looking forward to joining the team, and helping our customers and partners truly harness the full potential of data to drive their digital transformation efforts - securely and sustainably.”

Notably, Google Cloud helps accelerate an organisation's ability to transform its business digitally. It delivers enterprise-grade solutions that leverage Google's cutting-edge technology, which is all on the cleanest cloud in the industry. As a result, customers in more than 200 countries and territories turn to Google Cloud as their trusted partner to enable growth and solve their most critical business problems.

“Google has a long and successful history of partnering with Kiwi businesses, communities and educators to help them succeed,” adds Caroline Rainsford, Country Director of Google New Zealand.

“It's increasingly important that New Zealand businesses transform to adapt and continue to thrive. So I'm excited to have Paul join us in advancing this work, with a strategic focus on Cloud, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Ads."

Google Cloud's latest quarterly financial results revealed its strong growth momentum, having reported global revenue of nearly $6.9 billion for its third quarter. Having marked its 15th year in New Zealand, Google Cloud continues to build its support for local businesses, including Vodafone, Trade Me and Kami, to help drive their digital transformation efforts locally with speed, security and scalability at its core.
