Thu, 7th Mar 2024

In a notable reshuffling of its top tier, Deputy, a leading global people platform for shift workers, has announced the appointment of Sejal Patel Daswani as Chief People Officer (CPO). With this move, women now compose 80% of Deputy's senior leadership team, reflecting a significant shift in the gender composition of the company's C-Suite.

As the newly appointed CPO, Patel Daswani will lend her expertise to developing the company's global people strategy, improving the employee experience, and bolstering the firm’s international expansion. Prior to Deputy, the seasoned HR professional demonstrated her aptitude in roles ranging from start-ups to mid-size and Fortune 500 companies.

Serving in a leadership role at the battery energy storage company Sunrun, Patel Daswani significantly increased employee numbers, successfully tripling the workforce from 4,000 to 14,000. During her time as the HR Head at Visa, she expertly handled the expansion of the Visa Innovation and Digital Mobile Products team, overseeing the onboarding of more than 1,500 top-tier technologists, engineers, developers, and designers.

"I am excited to join Deputy and support our vision of building thriving workplaces in every community - including our own," says Patel Daswani, who will be bringing her forward-thinking philosophy to HR at Deputy. "I am extremely passionate about Deputy's platform, which improves the lives of hourly workers and the businesses that employ them."

Demonstrating her understanding of the profound impact of technology on the lives of shift and hourly workers, the new CPO shows a keen interest in driving Deputy's global growth objectives and establishing an environment where employee experience and innovation are focal points.

Silvija Martincevic, CEO of Deputy, welcomed Patel Daswani's appointment by highlighting her understanding of the world of hourly work and her experience in scaling global technology companies. "Sejal's experience... will be invaluable as we strive to not only grow Deputy, but also to create meaningful impact for our customers, our partners, and the hourly workers we serve", said Martincevic.

Emphasising the diversity of Deputy's leadership team, Martincevic is proud to lead a company where "diversity isn't just a goal; it's our reality." She stressed that the new leadership team closely reflects the community of hourly workers and business owners that they serve, and that a diverse workforce that understands the needs of their customers is a conscious strategy.
