New Relic appoints Kris Day as Senior VP for APJ
Tue, 21st Mar 2023
FYI, this story is more than a year old

New Relic, the all-in-one observability platform for every engineer, announces the appointment of Kris Day as Senior Vice President for Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) to drive expansion in the region and lead the business into its next stage of growth. "Kris joins New Relic at a time when we are witnessing organisations exploring a much broader, full lifecycle observability strategy. They are also navigating the increased complexity of multi-cloud environments and the modernisation of application architectures," said New Relic Chief Revenue Officer, Mark Dodds.

Day has over two decades of sales and leadership experience in the technology industry across Europe and the Asia Pacific region, covering hardware, software, cloud and transformation specialty sales, and partner sales environments. Most recently, Day was Sales Vice President for Asia Pacific and Japan at Dell EMC, where he led multiple teams to navigate complex customer cloud and digital transformation journeys. He has also held senior roles at NetApp and Hewlett-Packard.

In his new role, Day will be responsible for leading New Relic's high-performing sales teams to grow its footprint in the region, while delivering go-to-market strategies and enhancing the partner ecosystem. "I believe New Relic is uniquely positioned to capitalise on emerging market trends given its all-in-one observability approach, which overcomes data disparity and other modern IT complexities by enabling developers and engineers to visualise, analyse and troubleshoot an entire software stack in a single, connected platform," said New Relic Senior Vice President for Asia Pacific and Japan, Kris Day.

The APJ market represents a strong growth opportunity for New Relic, with room for greater adoption in the more mature markets of Australia, New Zealand and Japan. There are also significant opportunities for growth in the technology hubs of Southeast Asia and Korea, and an opportunity to tap into the rapidly growing Indian market, which is home to a vast number of the world's developers.

According to New Relic's 2022 Observability Forecast report, Asia Pacific was the region most likely to view observability as a key enabler for achieving core business goals, at 58%. Asia Pacific organisations were also most likely to have achieved full-stack observability by New Relic's definition at 33% when compared to Europe and the Americas. This regional appreciation for a holistic approach to observability is echoed by Gartner's Top Strategic Technology Trends for 2023 report, which lists Applied Observability as the second most important trend for 2023; marking a shift from a reactive to proactive observability practice that helps to define future business decisions.

Day's appointment follows the announcement of recent product innovations for the company including CodeStream code-level metrics and service-level telemetry and out-of-the-box GPT-4 monitoring. New Relic's observability platform enables organisations to achieve greater scale and efficiency, improve uptime and performance, and accelerate time to market to deliver excellent customer experiences. The appointment of Kris Day to this senior leadership position is expected to accelerate New Relic's growth in APJ and drive meaningful observability practices across the region.
