Adyen partners with Thomson Medical to improve payments

Today

Adyen has announced its partnership with Thomson Medical to enhance patient experiences and streamline operational processes across healthcare facilities in Singapore.

The partnership aims to bolster patient trust by implementing Adyen's integrated payment solutions throughout Thomson Medical's hospital and 37 clinics. This move is expected to provide patients with a variety of convenient payment methods, facilitating swift and accurate billing and minimising human error risks.

Ben Wong, General Manager for Southeast Asia and Hong Kong at Adyen, highlighted the transformative phase the healthcare sector is undergoing. He stated, "The healthcare sector is undergoing a profound transformation, driven by the demand for enhanced patient experiences and operational efficiencies. We are pleased to find a natural synergy between Adyen's single platform offering and Thomson Medical's commitment to innovation, and look forward to improving the overall patient experience with seamless, worry-free transactions."

Dr Melvin Heng, Group Chief Executive Officer of Thomson Medical Group, emphasised the importance of trust in healthcare. He said, "Patients place enormous trust and importance on the reliability and flexibility of their healthcare provider across all touchpoints, including payments. By leveraging Adyen's open architecture technology, with the efficiency and security it brings, we are better able to meet our patients' needs, providing seamless and diverse payment options. This enables us to focus on our mission of providing quality healthcare."

The incorporation of Adyen's payment technology aligns with Thomson Medical's commitment to enhancing digital experiences. The healthcare provider is looking to create a seamless journey from admission to discharge, reducing the potential for human errors and digitising financial reconciliation. This initiative is a significant aspect of Thomson Medical's broader digital transformation strategy, which strives for a more reliable healthcare experience overall.

With the enhanced system, patients will have the opportunity to use their preferred payment methods and currencies. They can anticipate improved experiences, such as efficient and secure payment processes with integrated in-person payment terminals. This feature is designed to reduce stress around payment logistics, allowing patients to concentrate on their health.

Furthermore, during admissions, a pre-authorisation charge on the patient's credit card ensures smooth billing post-treatment, freeing patients to focus on recovery without payment concerns. Additionally, Thomson Medical's new mobile app, Thomson Touch, allows patients to manage billing and make payments directly from their mobile devices, providing convenience and transparency.
