Adyen has announced the appointment of Ben Wong as the General Manager for Southeast Asia and Hong Kong.
Based in Singapore, Wong will be tasked with supervising the financial technology company's commercial operations across key markets such as Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong.
With a background in technology and sales, Wong initially joined Adyen in 2016, starting as a technology consultant during the early stages of the payments industry's expansion. In 2017, he transitioned into a sales role, where he achieved significant results in retail, ecommerce, and the hospitality sectors.
Warren Hayashi, President of Asia Pacific at Adyen, expressed his support for the appointment, stating, "We are thrilled to have Ben in this new role, bringing his expertise and insights from working with customers in different sectors to the broader region. Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong have been pivotal markets for us, and with Ben's demonstrated experience in Adyen, we are confident that he will lead the region to address the ever-evolving needs of our customers."
In his new position, Wong aims to drive growth strategies and fortify partnerships within the region. Reflecting on his appointment, Wong commented, "I am honoured to step into this new role and contribute to Adyen's continued growth. My deep roots in the industry fuel my drive for creating exceptional experiences for consumers and building strong, lasting partnerships with our customers. I look forward to driving the business forward and achieving sustained growth for our customers and us in a region filled with immense potential."
Before his time at Adyen, Wong accumulated half a decade of experience in fintech, information technology, and project management. This experience provided a robust foundation in technical expertise and problem-solving within the swiftly evolving payments industry. Wong's technical skillset, combined with his insight into market needs, has enabled him to effectively lead Adyen's commercial teams, matching the demands of businesses in Singapore.
Wong's new role at Adyen marks a strategic step for the company as it continues to expand its influence in the Asia-Pacific region. With Southeast Asia and Hong Kong recognised as significant markets, Wong's leadership is poised to bolster Adyen's presence and adapt to the dynamic requirements of its diverse client base.
