Aurionpro names David Maitland as Chief Strategy Officer

Aurionpro has appointed David Maitland as Chief Strategy Officer for its transit business, adding a senior executive with international transit and payments experience to the leadership team.

Maitland will oversee strategy for Aurionpro Transit, including the company's transit, mobility and airport portfolio. His remit includes global expansion, customer engagement, market development, and product and service direction.

He joins from Cubic Transportation Systems, where he was Chief Growth Officer and led international growth initiatives. Before that, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Vix Technology, helping restore profitability and reset the company's growth strategy.

Earlier in his career, Maitland spent a decade at AWE as Main Board Director of Corporate Services and Chief Information Officer. He also worked at Ford Motor Company.

Aurionpro operates across transit, banking, payments, insurance, data centres and government markets. Over more than two decades, Maitland has worked across Europe, Asia, the US and Canada in transit operations, payments and technology.

Also, the appointment comes as Aurionpro looks to expand its transit business beyond its home market, with Europe and the Americas identified by senior management as key growth areas.

Maitland holds degrees in Psychology and Business Management and is a Fellow of the British Computer Society.

In his first remarks after taking the role, he pointed to Aurionpro's market position and the next phase of growth for its transit business.

Furthermore, Aurionpro's transit unit sits within a broader technology group serving financial services and public sector customers as well as transport operators. The hire signals continued focus on transport and mobility as a distinct line of business within that structure.

Subsequently, Sanjay Bali, who leads the group that includes the transit operation, said Maitland's background was well suited to the company's next stage of development, linking the appointment to both commercial growth and international expansion.
