AXS launches AXS Drive app to simplify car park payments
AXS has launched its new motoring application, AXS Drive, aimed at simplifying the parking experience in commercial spaces by offering cardless payments.
The app is designed to auto-deduct parking fees through users' credit cards linked to their car details, providing an efficient method of payment and easing the exit process by eliminating common issues such as insufficient funds, card reading errors, and delays caused by scanning complimentary parking tickets.
At its inception, AXS Drive has been implemented in 12 commercial car parks, including Downtown East, Far East Plaza, The Heeren, and Wisma Atria, among others. AXS has set a target to extend this service to a total of 100 car parks by the end of 2024, which is projected to account for approximately 12% of the market share in the segment.
"AXS Drive is our first foray into the cardless payments space. This also marks the first new app AXS has launched in over a decade. It is a solution that we have built after identifying a strong need in the commercial parking segment for innovations that are similar to Parking.sg," commented Jeffery Goh, Group Chief Executive Officer of AXS.
"AXS Drive, thus, brings similar auto-deduction features to commercial parking spaces."
The application links the driver's credit card to their vehicle's license plate and In-Vehicle Unit (IU) number to facilitate automatic payment deduction upon exiting the car park.
The system utilises License Plate Recognition (LPR) technology to record entry and exit times, processing payments only after the driver leaves the car park. Moreover, AXS Drive's integration with existing Electronic Parking Systems (EPS) ensures ease of implementation without requiring additional hardware for car park operators.
Presently, AXS Drive is live in 12 car parks at launch, with a total of 55 commercial car parks already on-board and rolling out progressively. This phased integration aims to streamline the parking experience progressively throughout the city.
The introduction of AXS Drive addresses common frustrations associated with traditional stored-value card systems where drivers may find themselves stuck at exit gantries due to various issues such as insufficient card value or reading errors.
By utilising an account-based payment processing system, AXS Drive ensures smoother transitions out of car parks, potentially reducing the frequency of traffic congestion at exit points.
As the app expands to more locations, it aims to reduce the routine headaches for drivers who are accustomed to manual payment processes and associated inconveniences.
AXS's strategic goal is to capture a meaningful share of the commercial car park segment through technology-driven solutions that provide practical daily benefits.
As the rollout continues, users of AXS Drive can expect more car parks to support the app, and the company remains committed to enhancing the convenience of parking through innovative technological approaches.
