Commercetools launches on Microsoft Azure Marketplace

Tue, 23rd Jul 2024

Commercetools has announced its availability on the Microsoft Azure Marketplace, becoming the first commerce vendor to adopt both a cloud-agnostic and cloud-native approach.

This move allows the company to further extend its reach and offer businesses an enhanced ability to integrate on-premises data centres with cloud services.

Blaine Trainor, Global Vice President, Partnerships and Alliances at commercetools, expressed the significance of this development.

"Today's commerce landscape demands unlimited flexibility and adaptability. With commercetools Platform now available on Microsoft Azure, we're empowering our customers with the choice to run their commerce architecture on the cloud provider that best suits their needs," Trainor said.

"This move reinforces our commitment to providing businesses with the tools they need to thrive in an ever-changing market. As we look to the future, we're excited to continue driving innovation and helping our customers navigate the digital commerce landscape."

The announcement positions commercetools as a pioneer in the digital commerce industry, valued at over USD $6 trillion globally. Their cloud-agnostic and cloud-native capabilities will enable businesses to scale operations more efficiently without the constraints of forced upgrades, process changes, budget issues, or innovation barriers. By the end of the year, commercetools plans to make additional services like commercetools Frontend, commercetools Connect, and Foundry available in the Americas and Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA).

Customer benefits from commercetools' integration with Microsoft Azure include access to an extensive enterprise network for global scalability, utilisation of advanced AI, ML, and IoT technologies, and premier cloud infrastructure that ensures high reliability and security for e-commerce activities.

This integration highlights the versatility and strength of commercetools' composable commerce approach, which allows businesses to optimise their commerce investment by choosing components and solutions aligned with their evolving market needs.

Jake Zborowski, General Manager of Microsoft Azure Platform at Microsoft, also commented on the partnership.

"Through Microsoft Azure Marketplace, customers around the world can easily find, buy, and deploy partner solutions they can trust, all certified and optimised to run on Azure," he said. "We're happy to welcome commercetools to the growing Azure Marketplace ecosystem."

The Azure Marketplace, which connects businesses with cloud solutions certified to run on Azure, is reputed for helping companies seeking innovative solutions. This partnership is expected to enable commercetools to capture a larger share of the digital commerce market by leveraging Microsoft's global customer base.

Commercetools has a history of working with high-profile brands like River Island, Sports Direct, Very, Audi, Just Eat Takeaway, Cimpress, and Orbia-Wavin. The company enables these brands to deliver seamless, unified commerce experiences, enhancing customer acquisition, fostering loyalty, and expanding market share.

This development ensures that commercetools remains at the cutting edge of digital commerce technology, helping businesses navigate market shifts, including supply chain disruptions, economic uncertainty, and changing customer spending habits.

The partnership with Azure is expected to further cement its position as a leader in the global digital commerce sector.
