Kintone sales surge 36% to USD $65.8 million amid AI-driven growth
Kintone has reported a significant increase in sales for the first half of its 2025 financial year, driven by rapid adoption across Japan and key Southeast Asian markets. The no-code and low-code workplace platform surpassed JPY 10.281 billion (USD $65.8 million) in consolidated sales, representing a 36.4% rise from the previous year.
Enterprise demand
Adoption in the large enterprise segment continues to climb. As of June 2025, 47% of companies listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Section have introduced Kintone in at least one department. This marks an increase from 44% at the end of December 2024. The platform has achieved over 38,000 company subscriptions in Japan alone.
Globally, the platform's software-as-a-service metrics remain steady. Average Revenue Per Subdomain (ARPA) increased to JPY 44,600. The churn rate remained low at 0.92%.
Operational benefits
Kintone's expansion includes a focus on supporting large-scale deployments. The company has introduced new structures tailored for organisations with user counts of 1,000 or more, aiming to enhance governance and increase limits on applications and APIs. JX Advanced Metals Corporation, for example, uses Kintone for 4,200 employees worldwide to digitise workflows, which is estimated to save around 6,000 hours annually.
"We are making meaningful progress in the large enterprise market and are focused on promoting company-wide deployments," said Yoshihisa Aono, President, Cybozu. "To support this, we launched a new structure designed for large-scale deployments of 1,000 users or more, which enhances governance and significantly increases app and API limits."
"We are already seeing success, such as at JX Advanced Metals Corporation, where 4,200 employees globally use Kintone to digitize workflows, saving an estimated 6,000 hours annually," said Aono.
Role of citizen developers
The growth of Kintone is tightly linked to the use of 'citizen developers'-non-technical employees empowered to create applications and workflows to match operational requirements. This approach is gaining traction as companies seek to address a persistent shortage of qualified technical staff.
Generative AI integration
The introduction of the Kintone AI Lab signals the company's efforts to democratise technology within enterprises. The new suite of generative AI features allows employees to build applications and workflows by describing their needs in natural language through a chat-based interface. The AI App Creator and AI Process Creator generate fully functional applications and workflows based on these inputs.
"A new wave of digital transformation is being driven not just by IT departments but by everyday employees," said Tsubasa Nakazawa, Managing Director, Kintone Southeast Asia. "Low-code and no-code platforms were the first step. Now, generative AI takes it further, allowing people to simply describe what they want in everyday language, and AI instantly generates functional applications and workflows tailored to their needs."
Southeast Asia momentum
Kintone's momentum is also marked by accelerating uptake across Thailand and Malaysia. The firm has increased visibility through regional engagement events and aims to address the technology skills gap by enabling more non-IT staff to participate in digital transformation programs.
