MADCash triumphs with two awards at 2024 MAIAs for fintech
In a significant achievement for Malaysian fintech, MADCash has clinched two notable awards at the 2024 Money Awareness & Inclusion Awards (MAIAs). This announcement, made during yesterday's online ceremony, has placed the spotlight on MADCash's contributions to financial inclusion and the empowerment of underserved communities.
MADCash, whose primary objective is to offer zero-interest microfunds to women entrepreneurs, emerged victorious in two categories: Best For-profit Project for Under-Served Communities and Closing The Gender Gap. The double accolades reflect MADCash's pioneering efforts in bridging financial disparities and enabling women to achieve greater financial security and business success.
Expressing her elation, Nuraizah Shamsul Baharin, Managing Director of MADCash, stated, "We are super thrilled to receive this international recognition from the MAIAs. Our mission is to empower women entrepreneurs by providing access to capital as well as business and financial acumen training, with the end goal of helping our women become bankable in two years. Winning these two awards is a testimony to our hard work and the amazing effort put in by the women we fund."
The MAIAs, founded by Michael Gilmore and Trudi Harris, are dedicated to celebrating initiatives that enhance financial literacy and access to fair finance worldwide. This year, the awards received submissions from 35 countries, underscoring the global importance of financial education and inclusion.
Commenting on MADCash's achievement, Michael Gilmore, Founder of MAIAs, remarked, "We received submissions from 35 different countries for the 2024 MAIAs, showing how crucial financial literacy and inclusion have become worldwide. MADCash's awards in two categories demonstrate their robust approach to supporting underserved women entrepreneurs." Notably, MADCash was the only project this year to secure dual wins, highlighting the extraordinary impact of its initiatives.
Nuraizah further emphasised the significance of these awards: "The awards inspire us to have an even greater impact and reach more women in need. Thank you to the organisers of the MAIAs for these honours and also for putting the spotlight on the financial inclusion efforts happening around the globe so more people will become aware of their importance."
The MAIAs aim to recognise and celebrate outstanding programmes that increase money awareness and provide access to fair financial opportunities globally. This year's ceremony marked a record level of participation, demonstrating the widespread commitment to improving financial literacy and inclusion.
