Remote launches global HRIS to streamline cross-border hiring

Wed, 11th Jun 2025

Remote has announced the global availability of its Human Resources Information System (HRIS), designed specifically to support teams distributed across multiple countries from initial recruitment through to retirement.

The company's HRIS has been built from the outset to manage the unique requirements of international employment. Contrary to traditional systems that have been adapted over time to accommodate distributed workforces, Remote's solution aims to prioritise local compliance, leverage artificial intelligence for scalability, and offer functionality centred around ease of use for cross-border operations.

According to Remote's Global Workforce Report, 71% of employers now report recruiting beyond their home countries. This shift, which accelerated five years ago following the pandemic's impact on work styles, has advanced from increasing productivity and accessing global talent, to addressing enduring demands—such as maintaining efficiency, compliance, and connectivity within teams scattered across different regulatory environments.

Businesses face ongoing challenges in operating HR functions across jurisdictions. Issues range from navigating varied labour laws and tax systems to standardising employee onboarding, performance processes, and providing a consistent experience for all staff.

Remote argues that many existing HR systems predate the current era of international remote work. Frequently, they lead companies to rely on a mix of manual processes and discrete tools, creating issues with compliance and siloed information. The new HRIS offering aims to address this by centralising workforce data, automating compliance, and allowing integration of payroll, performance management, expense tracking, and device management, while maintaining enterprise-level security.

The platform's architecture brings together recruitment, performance evaluations, device controls, and equity management within a unified suite for human capital management. This is intended to streamline HR operations for companies employing people in multiple countries.

Remote has also launched Remote Perform, a solution intended to update traditional performance reviews. Performance cycles, particularly in larger organisations, can be time-intensive, often exceeding six weeks and requiring substantial manual effort. Remote Perform is designed with distributed teams in mind, offering flexible review schedules, customisable evaluation formats, integrated 360° feedback, and features for peer assessments, calibration, and career tracking. The tool also provides integrations with common workplace technologies such as Slack, giving employers the ability to track performance metrics in near real-time.

The HRIS provides several central features:

  • End-to-end workforce management: Management of the complete employee lifecycle—including hiring, onboarding, payroll, and employee administration—is facilitated through automated workflows powered by artificial intelligence.
  • Integrated payroll: The platform consolidates HRIS, global payroll, and employment management without the need for separate systems. This centralisation supports consistent pay practices, reliable recordkeeping, and easier auditing across countries.
  • Localised compliance: Remote offers a Compliance Watchtower that tracks regulatory changes and issues alerts to mitigate legal risk and potential fines. Services for employment of record, payroll, and contractor management are integrated, supporting onboarding globally while adhering to local regulations.
  • Expansive integrations: Remote supports interoperability with leading HR and IT solutions, more than 5,000 applications via Zapier, and its own API. This feature aims to reduce repeated data entry and support workflow customisation.

Kai Czeschlik, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Globl.Contact, highlighted the system's impact on their international hiring:

"At Globl.Contact, our strength lies in finding the right talent for our client's brands — significantly better than the competition, and across the globe. We build real connections — with our clients, their customers and within our globally distributed team. As we scale rapidly across 27 countries, Remote gives us the freedom to hire the best people anywhere, while saving 15 to 20 hours a week in admin and ensuring that every team member gets a consistent, high-quality experience. Our people are our edge, and Remote helps us protect that advantage at scale," said Kai Czeschlik, CEO and co-founder of Globl.Contact.

Remote has also expanded its Employer of Record (EOR) service, incorporating more automation for the employee lifecycle, integrated services, and embedded compliance controls. This enhanced offer is targeted at mid-market and enterprise organisations that operate across multiple countries and are looking to reduce manual activities, technology sprawl, and improve operational oversight.

Job van der Voort, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Remote, discussed the evolution of remote work challenges since the company's inception:

"Six years ago when Remote launched, helping companies hire their first remote team member was a breakthrough. Today, those same companies have scaled remote-first teams across dozens of countries, and they're running into a new wave of challenges: compliance complexity, fragmented HR tools, and limited visibility across their workforce," said Job van der Voort, CEO and co-founder of Remote. "This launch is a major milestone, and part of our constant effort to meet the moment. As our customers grow, their challenges grow, and we're here to assist them with a platform that's built to handle the full scale and complexity of modern work reliably, securely, and simply."
