Sembo unveils AI multi-destination travel booking assistant
Thu, 25th Apr 2024

Travel industry firm, Sembo, a Nordic digital travel agency owned by Stena Line, has launched the world’s first Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered multi-destination travel booking assistant. Unveiling a groundbreaking set of features, the AI assistant is all set to revolutionise the way travellers plan and book their trips.

The AI assistant boasts of being the world’s only platform capable of finalising bookings and transactions within a single click—eloquently highlighting that this feature does not exist within Google's new AI assistant. Coupled with its capability to hyper-personalise travel suggestions, tailoring travel itineraries that encompass activities, accommodation, and travel itself, based on user prompts, the AI assistant stands out from the crowd.

Sembo's AI assistant offers a highly streamlined and seamless user experience with integrated centralisation—planning, booking, and payment for an entire trip can be managed from a single platform. Additionally, it's highly optimised for trip planning as it assists with multi-destination bookings, provides suggestions for transportation, along with insights on the most cost-effective travel options to ensure maximum savings for travellers.

Bridging a gap in AI-enabled travel planning and booking, Andreas Elmgren, Sembo’s General Manager, declared, "Our launch sets a new worldwide benchmark for the travel industry. While the exploration of AI tech and ChatGPT-inspired apps have been on the rise, Sembo's AI assistant is the first that combines personalised travel suggestions with the convenience of centralised booking. This not only gives our customers complete control over their travel plans, but also simplifies the complexity of organising multi-stop trips."

Jari Virtanen, CEO of Stena Line Travel Group, praised Sembo's innovative approach, stating, "Sembo has always been a trailblazer when it comes to new technology, a key factor in Stena Line’s decision to acquire the company nearly two decades ago. The travel sector has generally lagged behind digital evolution and by and large, we still book trips the same way as we did in the early 2000s. Now, Sembo is taking a big step forward in a way that redefines the entire landscape while solidifying our global market presence."

Sembo's AI assistant crowns the broader industry’s AI adoption, spurred by the recent debut of OpenAI's ChatGPT. This strategic move comes on the heels of Google’s AI travel assistant launch, which, in contrast to Sembo’s version, falls short of a booking feature. Set to revolutionise the landscape of the travel industry, Sembo's AI assistant is ready and available on sembo.com from 9th April, 2024, raising the benchmark for seamless and simplified travel planning and booking.
