Straits Interactive launches DPOinBOX AI to boost data governance

Fri, 13th Sep 2024

Straits Interactive has announced the launch of its latest product, DPOinBOX AI, which leverages Generative AI to enhance data protection compliance and assist Data Protection Officers (DPOs) with data governance.

This new solution supplements the original DPOinBOX, first introduced in 2014 as Singapore's premier privacy management software.

The original DPOinBOX was instrumental in enabling DPOs to create robust privacy management programmes, integrating training and advisory services with a Data-Protection-as-a-Service (DPaaS) model. The tool facilitated alignment with the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) requirements for companies, marking an early step in comprehensive data protection compliance.

The newly unveiled DPOinBOX AI is positioned as the next generation of data protection compliance tools. This version integrates advanced Generative AI capabilities, promising significant enhancements in productivity and risk control analysis. According to Straits Interactive, the AI-driven solution operates up to five to ten times faster than traditional methods.

Key features of DPOinBOX AI include several AI-powered tools aimed at simplifying and enhancing the work of DPOs. Among these is the AI DPO Toolkit, which assists in building data inventories, data flows, and Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), as well as recommending controls to address identified risks. Additionally, the AI DPO Assistant provides 24/7 support, offering insights into privacy-related concerns, including data breach management, based on a comprehensive body of privacy regulations and guidelines.

Another significant offering is the AI DP Staff Toolkit, which includes AI Tutors designed to guide staff through PDPA compliance. This toolkit features tools for AI-powered compliance self-assessment, consent and notice generation, and operational self-help advice. Further, the AI Self-Help component, powered by Capabara Knowledge System, enables users to securely upload, store, and query their own policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) using Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) models.

Kevin Shepherdson, CEO of Straits Interactive, emphasised the company's commitment to advancing data protection practices. "Our mission has always been to drive innovation in data protection practices," he said. "With DPOinBOX AI, we are setting a new benchmark in privacy management by leveraging AI to provide an unparalleled level of support and efficiency to our clients. We also hope to introduce our clients to the world of Generative AI, which we believe will assist them to increase their productivity and enhance their competitive advantage in the market."

Straits Interactive believes DPOinBOX AI is a significant advancement over traditional data protection software, which often takes a more rules-based approach and requires extensive training. The AI-driven solution aims to reduce the time and effort needed for users while providing engaging and insightful guidance that is accessible even to beginners. This, in turn, is expected to contribute towards achieving Data Protection Trustmark certification more efficiently.

As an established provider of data protection and data governance solutions, Straits Interactive continues to support organisations by delivering advanced tools that foster stringent compliance with data protection regulations. The introduction of DPOinBOX AI reflects the company's focus on integrating contemporary AI technologies into its range of solutions.

In addition to this product launch, Straits Interactive maintains a broader commitment to data governance, partnering with universities and international certification bodies to offer advanced diplomas, degrees, and certification courses. Their Capabara capability-as-a-service platform further reinforces this commitment by assisting organisations in managing their digitalisation and innovation objectives efficiently.
