Amex GBT has added new intelligence tools across its travel, expense and meetings products, with updates covering Complete, Egencia and Neo.

The changes focus on travel programme visibility, disruption handling, booking benefits and guest travel management, extending the company's use of artificial intelligence across business travel workflows.

At the centre of the rollout is a new Travel Manager Dashboard for Egencia customers. The dashboard gives travel managers a real-time view of programme performance and draws on more than a petabyte of travel data.

It includes AI-generated summaries, performance indicators, effectiveness scoring, proactive alerts and direct access to commonly used tools. It also produces a shareable travel programme review designed to reduce manual reporting.

Another part of the update affects Complete, the joint offering with SAP Concur. Amex GBT has introduced leakage reporting to show how much travel spending takes place outside a managed programme, with data broken down by business unit, travel category, vendor and traveller.

The reporting combines travel and expense data from Concur Travel and Amex GBT, including offline bookings. That is intended to give travel managers a broader picture of spend beyond transactions booked within approved channels.

Traveller tools

For travellers, Amex GBT has expanded disruption management in the Complete mobile app. Users can receive real-time notifications, make self-service trip changes, access airline fee waivers, view personalised recommendations and contact live support within the app.

Amex GBT has also added what it calls Perks to the booking process. The feature displays supplier offers, negotiated rates and loyalty benefits during booking for air, hotel and ground transport. Complete will receive the feature first, with Egencia to follow.

Corporate contract benefits, loyalty entitlements and negotiated extras are shown and applied automatically at the point of sale, according to the company. Other additions include real-time loyalty validation, one-click loyalty enrolment, and access to status matches and other supplier benefits during booking.

Guest travel

The update also extends to Guest T&E, the company's product for non-employee travel and expense. The platform manages event creation, RSVPs, booking, virtual card payment, expense handling and reconciliation.

New functions include a per-event travel policy builder, pre-populated guest booking details, healthcare professional profiles and compliance extracts, and a Guest Hub that provides a real-time view of RSVPs and booking status.

The service is available across Amex GBT's products and is live in the US and UK. Early enterprise deployments showed average event creation times of five minutes instead of up to four hours manually, while automated reconciliation saved up to 10 hours per event and self-service booking rates reached 94.5%, the company said.

The announcement builds on a wider push by Amex GBT to embed AI into business travel administration. The company recently launched an Egencia AI connector in Claude and expanded conversational AI into workplace tools used by corporate customers.

Drew Crawley, President, Amex GBT, said the company sees a change in how clients judge business travel programmes.

"The business travel value conversation is shifting from 'how much did we spend' to 'what did that travel enable'," Crawley said.

"We are investing in the technology, insights and expertise to support that shift so our customers and travelers can answer that question with confidence," he added.

Some customers pointed to the closer working relationship between Amex GBT and SAP Concur since the launch of Complete, focusing on product development speed and operational coordination between the two groups.

"What Amex GBT and SAP Concur have accomplished together with Complete in nine months has been very impressive," said Dorian Stonie, Senior Director of Global Travel, Salesforce.

"The walls came down, and two things stand out. First, the level of collaboration with joint engineering teams working side by side in ways that simply wouldn't have been possible before has driven real improvement for my program and my travelers. Second, the pace of progress has genuinely exceeded my expectations, given the scope of what they have set out to deliver, and we're looking forward to what Amex GBT and SAP Concur release next," he said.

Another customer described the collaboration as a practical improvement for corporate travel buying.

"I applaud Amex GBT and SAP Concur for coming together; it's a great step forward," said Cathy Sharpe, Director, Strategic Sourcing, Global Travel and Event Management Services, ITW.

"I always felt that push and pull between the two, and now seeing them work in parallel to get to outcomes faster? I love that," she said.

Evan Konwiser, Chief Product & Strategy Officer, Amex GBT, said the latest release reflects investment across the company's product range.

"What we're announcing today reflects the breadth of investment we're making across our portfolio - from AI-powered program intelligence for travel managers to seamless disruption management for travelers, to a fully integrated solution for non-employee travel," Konwiser said.

"No matter what Amex GBT solution you're on, you're going to see the difference. We're committed to making every part of the managed travel experience smarter, simpler, and more connected," he added.
