CelcomDigi launches MYR RM88 soundbox to boost MSME digital shift

Wed, 24th Sep 2025

CelcomDigi has introduced its first combined soundbox and e-invoicing device aimed at assisting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Malaysia to modernise their payment and invoicing processes.

The new product, called the E-Invoice Soundbox, targets Malaysian MSMEs seeking a more straightforward, affordable, and accessible entry to digital payments and invoicing. CelcomDigi states that the soundbox device is the first of its kind offered by a telecommunications provider in the local market.

Digital adoption for MSMEs

In the current business climate, many MSMEs struggle to adopt modern financial technology due to complex systems, high upfront costs, and inconsistent access to digital solutions. The E-Invoice Soundbox is promoted as a simplified solution with a plug-and-play concept that provides real-time QR payment confirmation and automatic e-invoice generation. By consolidating these functions in one device, CelcomDigi aims to streamline daily operations for small businesses, with the goal of helping to reduce payment disputes and enhance the experience for both merchants and customers.

According to the company, the E-Invoice Soundbox supports sustained operation even in locations with limited internet connectivity. It is bundled with a CelcomDigi SIM card and operates on CelcomDigi's mobile network, aiming to provide reliable service in areas where fixed-line internet connections are unavailable. This could be particularly beneficial for businesses without established accounting infrastructure and those in rural areas.

Affordability and accessibility features

CelcomDigi is offering the device at a subscription cost of MYR RM88 per month. The organisation points out that, unlike many conventional systems, the E-Invoice Soundbox does not require complex technical integration or significant initial investment. Merchants simply sign up, receive the device, and begin using it immediately, which the company describes as a true plug-and-play experience.

Inclusivity is highlighted as a central consideration in the design and distribution of the product. The company notes that the solution is suitable for a variety of small businesses, including street traders, night market vendors, and others from underserved communities, as it aims to lower the barriers typically associated with digital business tools.

Commitment to SME digital transformation

CelcomDigi maintains that this launch is part of its ongoing efforts to facilitate the digital transformation among Malaysian MSMEs. The company emphasises that streamlined access to digital solutions will help these enterprises reach new customers, leverage real-time sales insights, and position themselves to manage market changes more effectively.

The E-Invoice Soundbox is set to be made available through CelcomDigi's network of authorised dealers across Malaysia. Small business owners are expected to benefit from access to digital sales records and analytics, which can be used to inform future business decisions.

CelcomDigi reiterates that supporting Malaysia's MSMEs will have lasting impacts on the broader national digital economy, especially as more businesses adopt digital practices that enhance operational resilience and customer experience.
