Dell unveils largest range of AI laptops for businesses

Mon, 26th Feb 2024

Dell Technologies plans to unveil the largest range of commercial AI laptops and mobile workstations at MWC according to a recent announcement. These new AI PCs are designed to enhance organisations' and employees' productivity and prepare companies for the AI era.

Patrick Moorhead, Founder and CEO of Moor Insights & Strategy, shared, "The next generation of PCs is emerging at a pivotal time – with upcoming refresh cycles and new capabilities on the PC creating the perfect storm." Moorhead emphasised the importance of Dell's commercial AI PCs and workstations and mentioned how they offer "an AI continuum designed to enhance the user experience today and set organisations up for success in the future."

Sam Burd, President, Client Solutions Group at Dell Technologies stressed the importance of AI in modern businesses. He commented, "Every company that wants to remain competitive will have to implement AI in some way, and AI PCs will be central to that. Dell's advantage starts with offering more AI PCs across the commercial portfolio from day one, giving customers the ability to start future proofing for AI today."

A key feature of these new AI PCs is the addition of a Neural Processing Unit (NPU). NPUs work as an AI acceleration engine, taking on dedicated AI tasks and freeing up the CPU and GPU to undertake different workloads. This technological advancement is expected to boost performance, security, battery life and productivity. Dell estimates NPUs will experience substantial growth, increasing from roughly 50 million units in 2024 to over 167 million in 2027, accounting for almost 60% of all PC shipments globally.

Dell's new AI PCs range from entry-level to ultra-premium laptops and workstation options and are based on Intel Core Ultra processors with Intel vPro. The extensive array of devices is suited to various tasks, enabling users to collaborate more effectively, create content quickly, increase security in hybrid work environments, and maintain a steady workflow with the assistance of a Copilot key that accesses the user's everyday AI companion.

Moreover, Dell Technologies aims to assist consumers with new Service capabilities. Proposed features include maximising PC uptime and improving productivity with new self-healing capabilities through the ProSupport Suite for PCs, and equipping employees with tailored tools and technology via Digital Employee Experience Services for Gen AI.

Some of the featured products in the collection include the Latitude 7350 Detachable, considered the most collaborative commercial detachable, and the Latitude 7350/7450 Ultralights, the lightest 13.3" and 14" premium commercial laptops. Dell is also offering innovative mobile and fixed Precision workstations capable of running complicated AI workloads securely and cost-effectively. The lineup also includes five new headsets, all equipped with an AI-based noise-cancelling microphone system.

Emphasising Dell's commitment to sustainability, the company announced that its new Latitude devices are the first commercial PCs to use recycled cobalt in their batteries. Furthermore, the Latitude 7350 Detachable has been designed for easy repair to longer its use. Dell's recovery and recycling services ensure proper retirement of IT equipment, thereby helping to reduce e-waste and increase product longevity.

The releases are scheduled throughout Q2 with the Dell Premier Wireless ANC Headset (WL7024) available in China on March 29 and globally on April 14. The ProSupport Suite for PCs with self-healing capabilities are expected to be available globally by the end of April while the Digital Employee Experience Services for GenAI are available globally.
