Dubai arbitration centre launches DANA digital platform for cases

Tue, 18th Nov 2025

Dubai International Arbitration Centre has launched a digital arbitration platform named DANA by DIAC powered by Opus 2, aiming to streamline case management and expedite dispute resolution processes. The platform, developed in partnership with technology firm Opus 2, is designed to centralise and digitise core activities for parties, legal professionals, and case managers within arbitration proceedings.

Platform overview

DANA by DIAC will allow users to handle tasks such as e-filing, case registration, and document submissions through a single collaborative interface. The system also introduces enhanced case management workflows to bolster transparency and accessibility across stakeholders involved in dispute resolution. According to the centre, these digital processes are expected to reduce administrative workloads and enable greater consistency in how cases are managed.

Workflow benefits

Functions available through the platform include real-time collaboration, central document repository, and integrated communication between all parties and the DIAC case management team. With the digitisation of key processes, DIAC expects improvements in operational efficiency and the overall arbitration experience for users. DANA by DIAC will be available to all users from January 2026.

Cultural alignment

The centre noted that the name DANA is inspired by multiple cultural references. In the Arabian Gulf, 'Dana' refers to a precious pearl and reflects Dubai's maritime heritage. The name also translates as "wise" in Persian and as "arbiter" in Hebrew, aligning with DIAC's role in dispute resolution.

Commitment to standards

The introduction of the platform aligns with DIAC's stated focus on maintaining high standards in international arbitration services. DIAC is the largest arbitral institution in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia region, handling cases from parties conducting business in or through the MEASA region.

"DANA by DIAC powered by Opus 2 strengthens confidence in DIAC arbitration by providing a reliable and secure environment for managing our cases. It reflects our continued focus on high standards and delivering a customer service experience that is second to none", said Robert Stephen, Registrar, Dubai International Arbitration Centre.

Digital transformation

The centre views the move as a major step towards modernising its infrastructure for cross-border arbitration. By consolidating key procedures onto a secure, cloud-based platform, DIAC aims to meet expectations of global practitioners for accessible and transparent legal proceedings.

"Our goal has always been to offer dispute resolution services that are efficient, transparent, and accessible", said Jehad Kazim, Executive Director, Dubai International Arbitration Centre. "The launch of DANA by DIAC powered by Opus 2 reflects our ongoing commitment to innovation and excellence, ensuring that our users benefit from a seamless and collaborative arbitration experience".

Partnership details

Opus 2, which provides dispute management software to law firms worldwide, developed the platform in partnership with DIAC. Both organisations describe the launch as a collaborative effort to advance digital processes in arbitration within the region.

"Opus 2's collaboration with DIAC is built on a shared vision to transform the future of arbitration", said Oliver McClintock, Chief Commercial Officer, Opus 2. "DANA by DIAC powered by Opus 2 exemplifies how technology can elevate and streamline arbitration. We are proud to help position DIAC at the forefront of innovation in international arbitration".
