Thu, 15th Feb 2024

NetApp, an intelligent data infrastructure company, has announced key executive appointments to drive its growth in Southeast Asia, particularly in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and Malaysia. The multinational technology firm strengthened its senior leadership team with the appointments of Sheraine Chua as Senior Director for ASEAN and Alwyn David as the Country Manager for NetApp Malaysia.

"ASEAN is a highly diverse yet fast growing region, requiring a holistic approach and strong leadership to better meet our customers’ ever-evolving needs and support our ecosystem in the region," said Andrew Sotiropoulos, Senior Vice President and General Manager of NetApp Asia Pacific. Sotiropoulos is confident that the new team members, with their deep experience and industry expertise, will significantly bolster NetApp’s position as an intelligent data provider across the ASEAN markets.

Sheraine Chua brings with her more than 25-years of leadership experience in directing high-performance sales teams across Europe, the Middle East, Africa (EMEA) and Asia Pacific (APAC). Her previous roles include serving as the Channel Sales Director (EMEA) at Adobe, and leadership positions at Seagate, Western Digital, Belkin and Packard Bell. Chua is set to lead NetApp's go-to-market strategy and reinforce its ecosystem in ASEAN. "Having this opportunity to drive NetApp's strategic growth in ASEAN is truly exhilarating. With NetApp’s robust portfolio, I am committed to helping businesses navigate the evolving digital landscape and unlock the inherent value of their data,” said Chua.

Alwyn David, the newly appointed Country Manager for NetApp Malaysia, holds a background as a software developer, with over three decades of experience in various technology firms. These include Dell, Telekom Malaysia, EMC, IBM, SAP, and Microsoft. He last served as the Head of Sales for Maxis. In his new role, David is tasked to steer the company’s local strategy and growth, assisting businesses to leverage their data to drive innovation and generate significant business outcomes. "NetApp is renowned for its deep legacy in data management and innovation," David commented. "At a time when Malaysian companies increasingly recognise the importance of data-driven business models, we aim to empower them by building an intelligent data infrastructure."

The hiring of Chua and David reasserts NetApp's commitment to ASEAN and sheds light on their strategy to accelerate business transformations within organisations across the region. With these appointments, NetApp seeks to further position itself as a leading intelligent data infrastructure company and remain a key player in the rapidly evolving digital landscape of Southeast Asia.
