Tech Mahindra launches AI platform for green finance compliance
Tech Mahindra has launched i.GreenFinance, a new platform designed to help financial institutions worldwide manage the lifecycle of green and sustainability-linked loans using artificial intelligence and cloud technology from Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Platform capabilities
i.GreenFinance is built to support banks, investors, and other finance sector enterprises in offering sustainable lending products which comply with stringent regulatory requirements in multiple jurisdictions. The platform integrates ESG data management and automates sustainability assessments and reporting tasks.
The system provides transparency by tying loan disbursements to verified sustainability milestones and documentary proof, with real-time monitoring. Lenders can adjust business rules across over 15 industry sectors, a feature aimed at helping them adapt the platform to their internal processes and operational needs.
Regulatory challenges
Sandeep Chandna, Chief Sustainability Officer at Tech Mahindra, addressed the current difficulties faced in green lending due to fragmented ESG data and regulatory inconsistencies.
"The growth of green and sustainability-linked loans remains constrained by inconsistent ESG data, differing regulatory frameworks, and a lack of standardized evaluation models across global markets. Built on AWS's strengths and capabilities, i.GreenFinance will address these challenges through a unified, transparent, and intelligent platform that automates complex assessments, streamlines data aggregation, and delivers verifiable sustainability reporting. This will thereby empower institutions to confidently scale their green lending portfolios while meeting evolving climate regulations," said Chandna.
Cloud foundation
The collaboration with AWS enables i.GreenFinance to utilise advanced analytics and generative AI, along with cloud scalability and security infrastructure. According to Tech Mahindra, this infrastructure supports secure, enterprise-grade deployment and global governance standards compliance.
Satinder Pal Singh, Director of Solution Architecture at AWS India and South Asia, commented on the partnership's technological framework.
"We have collaborated with Tech Mahindra through our Generative AI Innovation Centre to build i.GreenFinance. By leveraging AWS's Generative AI capabilities, along with AWS's advanced analytics solutions, i.GreenFinance empowers financial institutions to make data-driven lending decisions aligned with ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) criteria. Our collaboration with Tech Mahindra demonstrates how cloud technology can drive meaningful innovation in the financial sector, enabling institutions to meet their sustainability goals while delivering enhanced value to their customers," said Singh.
Data and reporting
The platform automates the collection and evaluation of sustainability-linked data, producing audit-ready reports for each loan disbursement. This is intended to simplify reporting obligations as more jurisdictions consider expanding requirements for traceable, transparent and measurable green finance disclosures.
Global reach
i.GreenFinance is positioned for global adoption by financial institutions, both in advanced economies with robust climate regulations and in emerging markets where green lending is expanding. The technology is designed for regular updates as ESG frameworks evolve and as new reporting standards are introduced.
