Indosat hosts Indonesia's inaugural Banking AI Day in Jakarta
Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison hosted Indonesia's first-ever "Banking AI Day" event in Jakarta, marking a significant milestone in the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) within the country's banking and financial sectors. The forum brought together leaders from the technology and banking industries, representatives from the Central Bank of Indonesia (Bank Indonesia), the Financial Services Authority (Otoritas Jasa Keuangan), and notable financial institutions such as Bank Central Asia, Bank Mandiri, BNI, BRI, and BTN. The primary focus was on the transformative potential of AI and its implications for the future of banking in Indonesia.
The event underscored the importance of AI in improving operational efficiency, enhancing data security, accelerating technological adoption, and elevating customer experiences. By embedding AI into their core processes, financial institutions can significantly contribute to the growth of Indonesia's digital economy while ensuring secure, efficient, and customer-centric services.
"Indonesia holds the highest potential for digital economic growth in the ASEAN region. Leveraging advanced technologies such as AI, cloud computing, and blockchain, our financial institutions can deliver faster, more efficient, and cost-effective services," stated Destry Damayanti, Senior Deputy Governor at the Central Bank of Indonesia. She further emphasised the importance of events like Banking AI Day, highlighting their critical role in ensuring that Indonesia's financial sector remains competitive on the global stage.

This includes state-of-the-art Data Centers by BDx Indonesia, which boast a total IT capacity of over 150MW across ten operating carrier-neutral colocation facilities in Indonesia. Additionally, Lintasarta will contribute by providing an AI factory equipped with GPU Merdeka, powered by NVIDIA, to serve as an advanced sovereign AI cloud within the ecosystem. Such facilities enhance Indosat's broader AI-driven initiatives, positioning the company as a facilitator for an AI-native "TechCo" transformation. Beyond infrastructure, Indosat is committed to empowering Indonesia's startup ecosystem by fostering innovation, enhancing data security, and nurturing homegrown talent.
Dennis Ang, Senior Director of Enterprise Business for the ASEAN and ANZ Region at NVIDIA, spoke about the collaboration with Indosat: "NVIDIA is collaborating with Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison to bring sovereign AI and accelerated computing to Indonesia's financial sector.
