Tue, 9th Jul 2024

Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison has announced the introduction of a suite of new AI-powered, cloud-based solutions designed to support the sustainable growth of the upstream oil and gas industry in Indonesia.

Indosat will provide these solutions through Indosat Business and its subsidiary Lintasarta, which is an information and communication technology provider.

The new AI-powered solutions were introduced at a meeting of the Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) with the SKK Migas KKKS Contractors, held between 12 and 14 June 2024 in Nusa Dua, Bali. The meeting showcased several advanced solutions aimed at enhancing various aspects of the oil and gas sector.

One of the new solutions introduced is the High Resolution Seismic through AI Technology. This facilitates exploration methods based on high-resolution seismic wave measurements with AI technology. According to Indosat, this solution can address the limitations of low-resolution seismic data and, with careful planning for each well, can potentially increase production by up to 10%.

Connected Workers Through AI is another innovation that connects workers to enhance quality and productivity by up to 10%. This system improves production quality and reduces manual errors by up to 15%. Additionally, it monitors safety compliance and emergency response levels, aiming to improve overall workplace safety and efficiency.

Indosat Condition-Based Monitoring and Predictive Maintenance addresses critical equipment maintenance failures. By implementing this solution, the company claims it can reduce maintenance damage by up to 20% and increase productivity by 8-10%. This predictive maintenance aids in ensuring that equipment operates efficiently and downtime is minimised.

The Indosat AI Cloud: AI-based Legal Contract Analysis solution reviews complex legal contracts that carry high financial risks and extensive regulatory considerations. Indosat's data suggests this solution can reduce external legal advisor costs by up to 50% and save up to 90% of the time involved in contract review. This could be crucial for companies needing to streamline their legal processes.

Indosat Intelligent Surveillance was also introduced to address the high accident rates in the oil and gas sector. This solution is designed to reduce the potential for fatal injuries by 95%, fires and explosions by 90%, and is 70% more cost-efficient compared to manual monitoring. By leveraging AI, Indosat aims to enhance safety measures and reduce the risk of accidents significantly.

To support these initiatives, Lintasarta is offering Cloudeka Deka GPU Infra, which provides GPU-ready, high-density data centre solutions and GPU Cloud Infrastructure in Indonesia. These solutions come with Capex and Opex cost efficiency and flexible, scalable payment models, making it easier for companies to adopt advanced technologies without heavy upfront investments.

Speaking on the development, Muhammad Buldansyah, Director and Chief Business Officer of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, highlighted the importance of technological innovation in the oil and gas sector.

"The utilisation of technological innovation is crucial to remain at the forefront of the dynamic oil and gas sector. Indosat Business is delighted to introduce our new cutting-edge AI solutions designed to help the oil & gas sector become cleaner, more efficient, and more competitive," said Buldansyah. He emphasised that the new solutions are crafted with optimal resource allocation, environmental impact reduction, and production maximisation in mind.
