NTT & Dell offer high-performance computing solution in Hong Kong
NTT Com Asia Limited has launched a new High Performance Computing (HPC) as-a-service solution in Hong Kong. A collaboration with Dell Technologies, NTT aims to fast-track the development of high-density data centres and facilitate the increase of compute-intensive workloads. The goal is to strengthen Hong Kong's position as a hub for AI Innovation and FinTech within the region.
The new solution combines NTT's direct liquid cooling (DLC) enabled data centre infrastructure and managed services with Dell's advanced computing technology. It offers HPC resources to support end-to-end deployment, extending its offerings from co-location and infrastructure hosting to computing servers and managed services. The service delivery model provides the convenience and flexibility of fast deployment of high-performance computing. It can support a power consumption of over 50kW within the NTT Financial Data Centre and Taipo Data Centre in Hong Kong.
According to Alex Chan, Vice President of Enterprise and Digital Solutions at NTT Com Asia, rapidly emerging technologies pose significant challenges to traditional IT infrastructure. "Alongside Dell Technologies, we're offering enterprise customers a turnkey solution that allows them to scale up their IT infrastructure quickly and cost-efficiently with end-to-end deployment to ease operational hassle," he noted.
An industry report indicates a surge in the demand for data centres with the rapid adoption of AI and increased data processing. Predictions by Cushman & Wakefield suggest that this demand in Southeast Asia and North Asia (including Hong Kong) will grow by over 25% per year through 2028. However, the increasing power consumption and maintaining requisite cooling capabilities in these data centres present notable challenges for enterprise deployment.
Jackie Kwong, General Manager of Hong Kong and Macau at Dell Technologies, stated that the company is committed to helping organisations achieve "faster, smarter outcomes" through their advanced smart cooling technology. "We deliver energy-efficient infrastructure to help customers enhance server performance and cooling capabilities in data centres," she said.
Steven So, Senior Vice President of Data Centre Hong Kong at NTT Com Asia, expressed pride at their partnership with Dell Technologies to bring this solution to customers. He noted that the collaboration makes NTT's data centre in Hong Kong an ideal location to support the processor-intensive deployments that are becoming increasingly important for enterprise transformation in the AI era.
As part of NTT Group, a provider of telecommunications and ICT services, NTT Com Asia Limited is dedicated to delivering the best ICT infrastructure and disruptive technologies with the vision to enable a smarter world. Riding on the enterprise mobile technology from docomo business in Japan, the company is focused on bringing cutting-edge and ready-to-market IoT, AI and other digital solutions to support enterprises to develop a mobile-first strategy in their digitalisation journey.
