Rock MS has launched the Bedrock Case Management Mobile App for legal professionals. The software is available on Apple and Android devices through its Bedrock software division.

The app is designed for solicitors who need access to case information and administrative tools while away from their desks, including when working in court or at police stations. It provides secure, real-time access to caseloads and related tasks from a mobile device.

Bedrock brings together case management functions in a dashboard for day-to-day legal work. Users can create attendance and telephone notes, record calls, access emails, and view, filter, search, move and save messages within the app. They can also upload documents and attachments, while planner and calendar functions sit alongside time and billing widgets.

Another feature provides access to Police Station Live in beta form, intended to help multiple solicitors coordinate during the same visit. The mobile software mirrors workflows already used in the main case management platform.

Rock MS launched in 2023 and provides operational support services, with a focus on the legal sector. Its services cover HR, IT, finance, practice management and compliance, alongside consulting on business strategy and technology.

The launch adds a mobile element to the Bedrock software offering as law firms look for ways to manage work across offices, courts and other locations. For legal practices, mobile access to files, notes and schedules can reduce the need to repeat administrative work when fee earners return to their desks.

Mobile access

The app was developed to fit the working patterns of legal professionals who often need to update files and manage communications while moving between locations. That includes handling matter-related administration where access to a desktop system may be limited or impractical.

Judy Matthews outlined how the business sees the product fitting into law firm operations.

"Built to support the way modern law firms work, the app brings key case management functionality into one secure, easy-to-use platform, helping legal professionals access matters on the move, reduce duplication, and work more efficiently whilst away from their desk.

This launch reflects our ongoing commitment to developing practical, user-focused solutions that help firms manage clients, matters, accounts, compliance, and HR all in one place. The app has been shaped by the needs of legal professionals, and we are proud to continue building technology that supports smarter working across the sector. I would particularly like to thank our Software Development Lead Adam Makepeace and the team for their hard work and dedication in bringing this exciting launch to life," said Judy Matthews, managing director of Rock MS.

The comments reflect a wider effort by software suppliers to bring together administrative, financial and compliance functions in legal practice systems. In this case, Rock MS is positioning the app as an extension of a broader platform rather than a standalone product.

Workflow focus

Adam Makepeace said the app is closely aligned with the company's existing software workflows. It allows common tasks to be handled directly from a mobile device, including document handling, email filing and appointment updates.

"This is an exciting time for us all at Rock MS. Launching the Bedrock phone app for both Android and Apple devices is a milestone in how we can help support our clients. We have delivered a range of functions that align directly with the workflows in the main software. Attendance notes, adding documents to matters, saving emails and attachments to files are all now easy to do directly from a handheld device. Reviewing, editing and updating tasks and appointments, including appointments in shared calendars, can also be done from the app, bringing particular benefits for people needing to collaborate in real time when dealing with busy court or police station environments," said Adam Makepeace, software development lead at Rock MS.

Those functions suggest the app is intended for routine operational use rather than occasional remote access. Shared calendars, matter updates and file-related email handling are all central parts of legal administration, particularly for criminal and litigation teams that spend time outside the office.

By offering the software through both major mobile app stores, Rock MS is widening access for firms with mixed device estates. The inclusion of billing and performance widgets also suggests an effort to put not only file handling but practice management information into the hands of lawyers working remotely.

Police Station Live remains in beta, but its inclusion points to a specific use case in criminal defence work, where several solicitors may need to coordinate attendance and case activity in real time. Alongside note-taking, document uploads and calendar access, this gives the app a role in live matter management as well as back-office administration.
