Sitecore expands sovereign cloud for AI in Singapore
Sitecore has expanded its sovereign cloud footprint in Asia by deploying SitecoreAI and Content Hub in Singapore on Microsoft Azure. The move targets organisations that need data to remain in-country.
The Singapore deployment keeps customer data and workloads within national borders, supporting organisations navigating data residency requirements and regulatory expectations, including those tied to Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act.
SitecoreAI is part of Sitecore's digital experience software portfolio and is used by marketing and digital teams to plan, create and deliver content across channels such as websites, mobile apps and social platforms. Content Hub is used to manage and organise digital content.
Sitecore linked the launch to growing scrutiny of data location in cloud and AI projects, and to Singapore's Smart Nation 2.0 programme, which focuses on trust, growth and community in the country's digital development agenda.
Data residency focus
Sovereign deployments have become a priority for organisations in regulated industries and the public sector. Data residency can shape vendor selection and project design, and influence risk assessments for cross-border processing and contractual obligations.
In Singapore, sectors such as financial services, government and operators of critical infrastructure often face stricter requirements for handling personal and sensitive data. Hosting and processing arrangements may require detailed assurances on where data is stored and who can access it.
Sitecore's Singapore approach centres on in-country hosting on Azure, offering data residency and low latency alongside security controls aligned with national requirements and regulatory frameworks.
Eric Stine, Sitecore's chief executive officer, said customers are paying closer attention to data location.
"Singapore is a critical hub for digital services, and customers are paying closer attention to where their data lives," said Eric Stine, CEO of Sitecore.
He added that the deployment is aimed at organisations in regulated industries.
"This deployment helps organisations in regulated industries meet Singapore's requirements, and deliver experiences that are fast, secure, and built to meet local requirements," said Stine.
Regional rollout
The Singapore announcement follows Sitecore sovereign deployments in the Middle East. Sitecore is positioning these in-region options as a way to address differences in regulatory frameworks across markets.
Dave Tilbury, Sitecore's chief operating officer, said data residency and security considerations can determine whether cloud and AI projects proceed.
"Across Asia, data residency and security are often the deciding factors for whether organisations can move forward with cloud and AI," said Dave Tilbury, Chief Operating Officer at Sitecore.
Tilbury described the Singapore deployment as a step for organisations that want cloud-based services while keeping data within national borders.
"By launching a sovereign deployment of SitecoreAI in Singapore, we are removing a major blocker for teams that need to keep data in country and still deliver modern, AI-enabled digital experiences," said Tilbury.
Public sector users
Sitecore cited the Agency for Integrated Care and the National Healthcare Group as examples of organisations using digital tools for citizen and patient services. A local presence in Singapore, it said, would support adoption of compliant AI and cloud technologies in public sector environments.
For government-linked entities and healthcare organisations, sovereign cloud options often intersect with procurement requirements, audit expectations and data classification policies. These factors can affect how quickly new digital services can be deployed and scaled, particularly when AI features involve personal data or operational systems.
Microsoft Azure is a common choice in Singapore for organisations seeking cloud services that meet local compliance needs. Deploying on Azure places Sitecore's AI and content tools within the same cloud environment used by many enterprises and public sector bodies.
Sitecore said it would continue its sovereign cloud commitment in the region, with in-region deployments forming part of its longer-term product and infrastructure roadmap.
